History of Woodford Bros., Inc.,
The History of Woodford Bros., Inc.
Founded in 1964…
- Woodford Bros., Inc. was started by 4 brothers: Richard Woodford Sr., Thomas Woodford Sr., Arthur Woodford and Harry Woodford
- The brothers started the company with the vision of creating an honest company that would be passed down through generations of the family.
- Woodford Bros., Inc. originally specialized in the construction of pole buildings and built thousands of various structures and many of the original dairy complexes as dairy transitioned from the family farm to larger farm complexes.
Woodford Bros., Inc. completed 1000’s of projects DURING THE 1ST GENERATIONS REIGN including:
- Over-the-horizon radar for the military
- drug stores, warehouses, hardware and lumber stores, telephone exchange buildings, various commercial buildings, and municipal projects
- At one time or another the company was also involved in; modular homes, running a bowling alley, gas station, fuel oil & coal heating, agricultural farm automation sales and many other related ventures.
- One venture that truly impacted the companies work for decades was the repair and renovation of the older timber frame barns. This started with “saving the barn” or “remodeling the barn” for the struggling family farmer and over the course of years as the “family farm” was forced out of business, changed to “saving the barn” for posterity, many projects have been listed on the national historic register and includes work on barns, churches, industrial and even residential timber frame buildings in 21 Northeastern states.

The Barn Renovation Experts
2nd Generation (1997)
- In 1997 – Thomas Woodford Sr. sons, Thomas Woodford Jr. and Michael Woodford took over the family business.
- Tom and Mike were “brought up in this business” and take pride in our companies reputation for honest, quality work. Both brothers started as helpers or assistants in the field and have effectively gained their experience by having actually performed all the various duties required to run the business.
- Our experience can be referenced by an excess of 350+ job completions per year locally and all over the North-Eastern united states. In past years it was common for our company to travel and work in far off areas including work done in; Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio to Maine and from the Canadian border to Virginia.
- However, in recent years Tom and Mike Woodford have honed the companies focus to be more local and to specifically focus on “the structural repair of building defects including framing, masonry and foundation problems”.
- Part of our recent initiative has been to refrain from taking on odd jobs so that we can focus on doing a better job on the structural work which we choose to focus on
Our goal……
- Our goal is to provide our customers with a single source to repair their building defects. We accomplish this by providing our customers with an initial assessment of the defect combined with an assessment of their needs followed by the in-house design and costing of the recommended repair, if the recommended solution is a fit for our customer, then the repair is contracted and completed by our companies field employees many of whom have been with us for ten to twenty years plus years.
- Woodford Bros., Inc. trains that if we in fact do not know what caused the problem, we have no business fixing it. We want to actually solve problems rather than to mask it with a temporary fix.
- To be the best in our industry by treating our customers like family and providing proven solutions with WOW Service.
Foundation supportworks (2011)
- In 2011, the reputation that Tom and Mike Woodford had built within our industry led to a Midwestern company known at the time as Foundation Supportworks to come knocking on our door and their requesting that we become a part of their growing team.
- This relationship started primarily as Supportworks hoping to supply our needs for Helical Micropiles materials (then a relatively small part of the overall work we did). But Foundation Supportworks had other materials & products too and a very interesting energetic organization as well as an affiliation with another Connecticut based business “Basement Systems” which Tom and Mike were both impressed with and a relationship seemed promising.
- At first the brothers were reluctant as they wanted to be remain loyal to their current suppliers but after some discussion and making it clear that they would not just cut ties with their former suppliers, the brothers decided that what Foundation Supportworks and Basement Systems had was a direct fit with our company.
- But who and what is Foundation Supportworks…?
Advantages of supportworks network…
- Being a part of this network gives us literally 100’s of years of combined experience across the U.S.A. to come up with the best products and methods within our industry.
- Supportworks employs staff that is strictly devoted to the development of each department within our business. i.e. Marketing Development, Appointment Center Development, Sales Development, Production Development etc.
- Supportworks offers endless training materials, and truly believes that we can make a difference in our communities, and big picture – in our world. They call it the ripple effect.
- Basement Systems is a true innovator within the mundane world of basement waterproofing. Raising the bar categorically for all things basement related.
