Woodford Bros., Inc. replaced the rotting frame and sills of this home in Constantia, NY
Jim needed to get some repairs done on his house that was built by his father back in 1979 in Constantia, NY. He knew it was best to address the foundation before starting work on the interior of the house. He did a good job replacing some of the wood himself but when the rotted floor joists started to give away while attempting to jack some other parts of the house he knew it was time to consult the experts. He gave Woodford Brothers a call.
We sent our Design Specialist, Nick, out to Jim's home to take a look. After a thorough inspection, Nick set an installation date with one of our foreman Matt. Matt and his crew made the needed repairs and now Jim can rest assured that any other investments made in his home will last.
In Constantia, NY, the town hall faced a common problem: a loss of heat and unwanted moisture in its crawlspace. Concerned about the adverse effects on their building, they decided to seek professional assistance. Knowing the importance of a reputable company, they called upon Woodford Brothers. The Design Specialist assigned to this project was Andy. He arrived at the Constantia town hall and met with the concerned officials to assess the situation. Andy carefully inspected the crawlspace, taking note of the heat loss and moisture issues. After thorough examination, he devised a comprehensive solution to address their concerns. Based on his evaluation, Andy recommended encapsulation along with spray foam insulation on the foundation walls to mitigate the heat loss and moisture problem effectively. He explained the benefits of the proposed solution, ensuring the town hall officials understood the advantages of encapsulating their crawlspace. Impressed by Andy's expertise and understanding of their needs, the town hall officials agreed to proceed with the project. Andy, in collaboration with the Woodford Brothers team, commenced the necessary preparations. Hunter, a skilled Foreman, was assigned to lead the job at the Constantia town hall. Along with his crew, Hunter arrived at the site fully equipped to complete the task. They began by preparing the crawlspace for encapsulation, ensuring a clean and suitable environment for the upcoming installation. Following Andy's plan, Hunter's crew installed Cleanspace, a high-quality vapor barrier, to seal off the crawlspace. This barrier acts as a shield against moisture, preventing it from seeping into the crawlspace and causing further damage. The team meticulously applied the Cleanspace, ensuring a secure and airtight seal. To tackle the issue of heat loss, the crew proceeded to spray foam insulation onto the foundation walls. The spray foam created a barrier, minimizing heat transfer and increasing energy efficiency within the town hall. With expertise and precision, Hunter and his crew carefully covered the entire foundation, leaving no area unprotected. Additionally, to provide enhanced insulation on the dirt floor of the crawlspace, the team installed TerraBlock insulation. This specialized material provides both insulation and moisture resistance, further reducing the potential for heat loss and humidity-related issues. The crew carefully laid out the TerraBlock insulation, ensuring complete coverage across the entire dirt floor. To facilitate easy access and maintenance of the encapsulated crawlspace, the Woodford Brothers team also installed a Turtl access door. This durable and secure access point would allow authorized personnel to enter the crawlspace conveniently whenever needed, while still maintaining the encapsulated environment's integrity. After completing the installation of Cleanspace, spray foam insulation, TerraBlock insulation, and the Turtl access door, Hunter and his crew thoroughly inspected their work. They ensured that every component was properly installed, leaving no room for potential issues in the future. The crawlspace encapsulation project provided the town hall with improved energy efficiency, reduced moisture issues, and enhanced durability, ensuring a more comfortable and sustainable environment for years to come.
Karen has been living in her Sidney, NY home for nearly five years. Over the past few years, she has noticed a worsening crack in her foundation that has been letting water in. Knowing that she eventually wanted to sell her home and move to be closer to her kids, she wanted to protect the property value, so she decided to reach out to Woodford Bros. for a free estimate for the necessary repairs. After an initial inspection, our Design Specialist suggested the installation of the WaterGuard and TripleSafe Sump Pump systems.
WaterGuard is a French drain system designed to be installed below the floor slab, resting on top of the foundation footing. The system then collects water that seeps through basement walls and drains it to the sump pump. In turn, the TripleSafe Sump Pump provides the ultimate protection for homeowners with wet basements, pumping 11,500 or more on a fully charged battery. With these two systems installed, Karen can rest assured that the basement is permanently waterproofed and the property value is protected.
