This early 20th century home was built with hand hewn beams and joists on a stacked stone foundation. The flooring system was held up with log posts. Over the course of the last century the foundation stayed in tact with some minor upkeep. The problem that was discovered by the home's newest owner was that some of the beams, posts and joists had succumb to dry rot. Attempts by other contractors to scab some of the troubled joists to add support, unfortunately, left some underlying issues unaddressed. One of the most affected components of the flooring system was the hand hewn rim joist. It was rotted enough to poke a pencil through with minimal force. Understandably, this was quite troubling for the home owner that had plans to make this beautiful house in Lee Center her new forever home.  Her internet search for a permanent solution led her to Woodford Brothers. In Dexter, NY, a homeowner faced a challenge with their 100-year-old home - an unlevel crawl space that was causing issues with their entire home. As you can see in the before photo, the space was in dire need of support. That's when we stepped in. Our expert team installed the SmartJack system, a robust and reliable solution. Notice in the after photo how the SmartJack system permanently stabilized the crawl space, providing peace of mind and reinforcing the home's integrity for years to come. 

Kelly's new home was perfect for her but there were some issues with the foundation. When the home was constructed part of the footer was not below the frost line. This can create problems caused by the freeze/thaw cycle. When the soil surrounding the footer is saturated with water in the colder seasons it is liable to freeze. Since water expands when it freezes it causes frost heave which has great potential to damage the home's foundation. Our solution to this problem is to excavate that part of the foundation, install specially engineered drainage called EZ Flow then install a completely inorganic insulation material called Silverglo that will prevent that part of the footer from being exposed to the damage-inducing ice. The soil is then placed back against the house so that it can be reseeded. Kelly now has peace of mind that her foundation is protected from the ever-present force of nature that is frost heave. 

This home in Clayville, NY had a couple of cinderblock columns that had shifted and failed causing the floors inside the home to be uneven and sloping. The door always wasn't operating correctly. Woodford Brothers lifted everything back into place and installed some 6x6 posts with a base below frost and Y-Bracing. 

Catherine has been living in her Rodman, NY home for over 11 years. Within the past couple of years, he has been growing increasingly concerned over the structural integrity of the foundation as the stone foundation has been bowing in. Wanting to repair the issue before it led to foundation failure, Catherine decided to reach out to Woodford Bros. for a free estimate for the necessary repairs. Following an inspection of the home our Design Specialist suggest the installation of our SmartJack and EverBrace systems. 

The SmartJack system provides solid support for sagging and undersized beams, restoring stability and straightness to the foundation. Once installed, SmartJack posts can correct problems such as sloping and overly springy floors, interior wall cracks, and out-of-level door frames. Plus, due to its design, the SmartJack system can be adjusted over time to provide additional straightening and leveling if necessary. In turn, with EverBrace, steel corrugated panels and beams work together to strengthen and stabilize foundation walls. Rigid foam is then injected to fill any voids behind the steel panels, fully transferring the load from the failing structure to the new support panels.  With these systems in place, Catherine can rest assured that her home's foundation is permanently stabilized and no longer at risk for failure.
